Sam Noble Museum of Natural History
Located in Norman, Oklahoma on Chataqua Avenue, in between the OU Law School and the practice field of the 7 time national champion Oklahoma Sooners, is the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History. And believe me, this is a quality exhibit. It has numerous fossils, artifacts and dinosaurs, including one of the largest ever discovered. While this is not a large museum compared to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, plan on spending most of an entire day to really see it all. And having been to both, I can assure you that the Sam Noble Nuseum has many things that the Smithsonian does not. There are many hands on displays for children and adults alike. And the early native American artifacts are stunning, including a freshwater pearl necklace nearly 4 feet long! In short, there is something here for almost everybody. So if you are a fossil hound like myself, or if you just like history and archeaology, get over to Norman, Oklahoma and check it out. It may be out of the way, but it's also worth the effort.
