The Oldest Parakeet

Parakeet No. 1

The day was August 14, 2000. The place was Stillwater, Oklahoma. And the Mayor became Grandpa Mayor. Here Number One Son hands her to Mom for the very first time.

Here we have 5 generations of Fruitcakes. We are all Jimmy Buffett fans. Even the little lady holding Parakeet No. 2, who just happens to be my own grandmother. Mom, trapped on a long trip, was force fed a steady Buffett diet until she converted.

This blanket was embroidered and quilted by Parakeet No. 1's great-aunt Jo from Lubbock, Texas. It is even personalized.

All those flashy toys and what is her favorite thing at Grandpa's? A bag of old Mardi Gras beads!

Just minutes old, and already checking out the camera. The power light on my Sony digital camcorder really caught her attention. Her eyes followed it.

These are 5 more generations of parrotheads on the other side of my family. Dad is also a Bob Wills fan. Check out my family history page for more on that. My other grandmother, holding Parakeet No. 1, goes for Bing Crosby - Frank Sinatra type crooners. You know, a lot of Jimmy's music goes there.
