James Gang Rides Again!
August 29, 2006, the original James Gang, featuring Joe Walsh, Jimmy Fox and Dale Peters, appeared in concert at the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas. The Nokia Theatre is the best concert venue I know. You won't go there to see basketball games, or professional wrestling, or tractor pulls. This is a flat-out concert hall. The James Gang was terrific, and Joe Walsh brought the house down with his guitar rides. In fact, if you have never had the opportunity to see and hear Joe Walsh live, you have never really heard him play. After the concert, my son turned to me and said "I didn't know Joe Walsh could play like that." That's because Joe really only kicks out the jams when he is performing before a live audience. All those rollicking guitar solos are too long and commercially incorrect to sell to most people. But for me, that is really my kind of music. The concert was great, but it was hands down the shortest concert I have ever attended. The James Gang played for one hour and twenty minutes, which is not very long for $69.50 a head entrance fee. Not to mention Ticketmaster's little nazi-like fees. But it was still great and I would not have missed it for anything. And the gorgeous back-up singers were the icing on the cake.
